Conferences & Meetups — Where the Community Convenes¶
Conferences are the highest-density Java learning experience per hour — 3-4 days of world-class talks by JDK maintainers, Spring team, and senior practitioners. In 2026, all major conference talks are on YouTube within 2 weeks. You do not need to fly anywhere. But attending one virtually or in-person changes your relationship to the community.

JUGs are the local meetup arm of the Java community. Attend one in your city if possible — one evening every 1-2 months. All are free.

JUG Reality Check 2026¶
Most Indian JUGs had a rough post-COVID decline. Bangalore + Pune recovered best; Chennai is patchy; others are effectively hibernating.
The best way to find real activity is meetup.com search + LinkedIn events (search “Java meetup [city]”).
WhatsApp / Telegram groups have replaced Slack/Discord for most Indian JUG coordination. Ask at your first meetup.
Zoho has hosted meetups at Chennai / Tenkasi offices; check with internal Java community.
Local Meetups Beyond JUGs¶

Devs of India, DevOps Bangalore, etc. — broader tech meetups where Java content surfaces.
Zoho-Specific Note¶
Zoho holds internal tech talks and Zoholics conference. If your L&D or Backend Platform team runs an internal Java community, join it. This is often higher-signal than external meetups for immediate day-job context.

The M10-M11 Talk Rule¶
Giving a talk at a local JUG in your study-prep window makes you 10x more memorable to hiring managers who attend. It’s usually easier than you think — JUG organizers are always desperate for speakers. Reach out in M9 with a title + abstract.
