Dir 09: Resources — The Canon¶
Purpose: The books, courses, papers, and reference docs that actually move the needle. Curated, not comprehensive.
How to use this directory: You will not read all of these. You are picking a small, honest stack — one book per phase, one video channel for background, one reference site for lookups. Everything else is optional depth.
The bookshelf of a working Java engineer is smaller than the internet suggests. Six books cover 90% of what you need across 13 months. Two YouTube channels replace ten. The rest is noise or specialization you don’t need yet.

If you only have money for ONE thing¶
One book: Effective Java 3rd ed (Bloch). ₹3,200 hardback / ₹1,800 Kindle. Non-negotiable.
One subscription: Baeldung Pro at $27/year (₹2,250) early-adopter price. Bundled IntelliJ IDEA Ultimate for 6 months alone pays for it 2x over.
One course: Free — Marco Codes YouTube. If you want structured paid, Marco Behler’s The Confident Spring Professional (~$149 / ₹12,500). If you want cheap-but-solid, GeeksforGeeks Java DSA Live Course (~₹4,000).
One community: r/java + Foojay Slack. Both free.
If you have money for THREE things¶
Add: Java Concurrency in Practice (Goetz, ₹3,500) — you will need it in Month 5. And Designing Data-Intensive Applications (Kleppmann, ₹4,200) — you will read it slowly across the whole plan.
The trap to avoid¶
Do not stockpile. Every PDF you download but don’t read is a small guilt tax on future-you. Buy the next book only when you’ve finished the current one. Course-hoarding on Udemy is the same disease with a different logo.
