Courses & Learning Platforms — Honest Verdicts¶
Video courses are supplementary to books and drills for you. You are not a bootcamp beginner. Use these when a topic is too niche to have a good book, or when you want a fast overview before diving into official docs. Costs converted at ~₹85/USD.

BUY. Bundled IntelliJ IDEA Ultimate 6mo + JProfiler 6mo alone > cost. Ad-free Baeldung articles are worth it. |
Baeldung All Access Courses |
$127 discounted / ~$400 full (₹10,700-₹33,600) |
80+ hrs across all |
Int-Adv |
SKIP. Public r/java complaints about REST Masterclass ($299, 2018) and Spring Security course refund refusal. Articles yes, courses no. |
Marco Behler — Confident Spring Professional |
$149 (₹12,500) |
~15 hrs |
Int-Adv |
BUY if serious about Spring. Marco is now JetBrains DevRel; course reflects real-world Spring in production. Best paid Spring course. |
Josh Long — Reactive Spring (leanpub) |
$45 (₹3,800) suggested |
~12 hrs reading |

BUY in M8 if going reactive. Reactive is niche in 2026 — most shops use virtual threads now. |
Educative — Grokking series |
$59/mo or $199/yr (₹5,000/mo or ₹16,700/yr) |
Varies |

RENT 1 month. Grokking System Design + Grokking Java study covers gaps in a weekend. Cancel after. |

SKIP. Too basic for you. |
JetBrains Academy |
$25/mo or $199/yr (₹2,100/mo or ₹16,700/yr) |
200+ hrs Java track |

SKIP unless total re-learning. Project-driven but paced too slow for your 10-15 hrs/week. |
GeeksforGeeks Java Backend Live |
~₹4,000-₹8,000 course-based |
60-80 hrs |
Int |
CONSIDER for DSA in Java. India-priced, live doubt sessions in IST, syllabus tracks Indian study patterns (Infosys/TCS/Zoho style). |
NeetCode Pro |
$149/yr (₹12,500) |
500+ problems |
Int-Adv |
CONSIDER in M2 & M12. Best-in-class DSA video explanations; Java solutions available. Cheaper than AlgoExpert and better. |
AlgoExpert |
$99/yr (₹8,300) |
200 problems |
Int |
SKIP. NeetCode Pro beats it on price and quality. |
Udemy — anything by Ranga Karanam / Chad Darby |
$10-20 on sale (₹850-₹1,700) |
40-60 hrs each |
Int |
CAUTION. Chad Darby’s Spring courses are dated (Spring Boot 2.x era). Ranga Karanam updates faster. Buy only on Udemy sale, treat as reference not curriculum. |

Recommended Stack for This Plan¶
M1-M3 (fundamentals refresh): Effective Java book + Marco Codes YouTube for topic clarifications. Zero paid courses.
M4-M6 (concurrency, JVM): Book-first (Goetz, Oaks). Video only when stuck. Nicolai Parlog for virtual threads (JEP 425/444).
M7-M8 (Spring + distributed): Buy Confident Spring Professional ($149). Or free path: Marco Codes + Josh Long streams + Bouali Ali JWT tutorial. Baeldung Pro for reference articles.
M9-M11 (portfolio): No new courses. Ship code.
M12 (study prep): Rent Educative Grokking for 1 month ($59). NeetCode Pro if not already owned.
Total minimum spend: $27 (Baeldung Pro) = ₹2,250. Total recommended spend: $225 = ₹19,000 across 13 months (Baeldung Pro + Confident Spring + NeetCode Pro + 1mo Educative).
The Baeldung Paradox¶
Baeldung has the worst courses-per-dollar and the best articles-per-dollar in the Java ecosystem. Their articles are the #1 Google result for 80% of Spring queries. Their $299 course got publicly panned on r/java. Buy Pro for the articles + IntelliJ license bundle. Never buy an individual course.
